About Us
Ningaloo Lures is run by brother and sister, Denver John Blake and Indya Blake.
We’re fifth-generation Blakes from the Exmouth Gulf region and grew up on Giralia Station, where our family’s connection goes back to 1921.
Fishing was just part of growing up for us. Some of our earliest memories are of throwing the tinny on top of the old Hilux and heading down to the Gulf before we were even old enough to have a licence.
We also grew up around plenty of bush mechanics and make-do solutions. At one point we even had a crack at fishing with a spark plug — an idea we’re pretty sure came from Dad’s bush mechanics notebook.
That willingness to give things a go never really left us.
In 2024, we decided to have a crack at designing our own trolling lures.
What started as an idea quickly turned into a lot of designing, testing, changing things and starting again. We worked through different head shapes, weights, materials and skirt combinations, learning what worked and what didn’t along the way.
That process became Ningaloo Lures.
Today our lures are all designed, made and finished by us in Western Australia. We work in small batches and are still constantly testing ideas, refining designs and figuring out how to make them better and what we could do next!
We build lures for the sort of fishing we grew up around - offshore trolling for marlin, tuna, mahi mahi, mackerel and whatever else decides to eat them.
Ningaloo Lures has come a fair way from two bush kids heading down to the Gulf with a tinny on the roof!
We make lures we’d want to fish ourselves.
